Rebels 8th Grade Basketball Open Season with Win

The Stephens County Middle School 8th grade boys basketball team opened the season with a victory Tuesday night defeating Elbert County 56-40.

Javin Gordon led the Rebels with 17 points and Andrew Keown added 15 in the win. The Rebels also received 9 points from Brock Tankersley, Jet Black had 6, Tripp Underwood 3, and 2 each from Everett Rudeseal, Jonah Swinton, and Semaji Walker.

The Rebels 7th grade boys dropped their opener falling to Elbert 46-17. Tyrese Carvin led the Rebels with 6 points, Christian Hewitt had 5, Davon Swinton had 4, and Zykemian Durham and Kymani Colbert added 1 each.

The Lady Rebels 8th grade girls team fell to Elbert County 34-26. The Lady Rebels were led in scoring by Fayeth Ivester with 16 points, Carson Stowe had 8 points, and Zionnah Kelly added 2.

The 8th grade Lady Rebels are now 0-2.

The 7th and 8th grade boys will be at home Thursday when they host Habersham at 4:30 P.M., the girls teams will be at Habersham.
