Rate of Covid Deaths, Cases Drop for 2nd Straight Day

The Georgia Department of Public Health is still reporting 63 COVID-related deaths in Stephens County with just two residents testing positive for the virus since Sunday, bringing the total to 2,595 since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Monday afternoon.

The latest report has Habersham County with another death bringing that total to 109 and now 4,251 positive cases of the virus.

In other neighboring counties, Franklin County still has  26 deaths and now  2,056 positive cases, Rabun County is now reporting 1,310 cases and 31 deaths, Hart County is reporting 1,497 cases and 27 deaths, and Banks County is still reporting 25 deaths and now 1,416 cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been a total of 722,062 positive cases of the virus across the state of Georgia, the second straight day the rate of cases were well under the average rate in the previous week, of those, 48,498 have been hospitalized and the rate of deaths due to complications of the virus also dropped by two-thirds and now totals 11,854.
