Qualifying for municipal races in Franklin and Hart Counties ended Wednesday at 4:30p.

Here is the final list of candidates for the municipal races in Franklin County:

In Lavonia, two City Council seats and the Mayor’s seat are open. Terms are expiring for Councilmen Eddie Floyd and Andrew Murphy as well as for Mayor Courtney Umbehant.

Incumbent Mayor Courtney Umbehant has qualified and is running unopposed in November.

Incumbent City Councilmen Eddie Floyd and Andrew Murphy qualified. Murphy will run unopposed. Challenging Floyd for the Post 3 seat is former City Councilman Harold Harbin.

In Carnesville, the City Council seats currently held by Sid Ginn and Patsy Watkins are expiring as well as the Mayor’s seat currently held by incumbent Harris Little.

Qualifying for Mayor is former Franklin County Clerk of Court Missy Holbrook. She will run unopposed.

Incumbent Patsy Watkins has qualified for City Council along with Gabbie McFarlin, Sherri Cheek, and Vince Esposito.

In Royston, three City Council seats currently held by Jason Phillips, Lee Strickland, and Wayne Braswell are expiring.

Incumbents Phillips, Strickland, and Braswell have qualified. All three are being challenged.

Phillips is being challenged for the Post 2 seat by Wesley Fricks.

Fletcher Hodges is running against Strickland for the Post 4 seat.

Incumbent Wayne Braswell is running against challenger Tony McCollum.

Two City Council seats are open in November in Franklin Springs for seats currently held by Councilmen Tommy Pritchett and Bill Bell.

Both Bell and Pritchett qualified and there is one challenger, Pamela H. Mayfield.

And in Canon, terms are expiring for two City Council seats held by incumbents Bobby Locke and Eli Brown. Both qualified Wednesday. Both will run unopposed.

In Hart County, qualifying has ended for three Hartwell City Council seats, the Bowersville Mayor’s seat, and two Bowersville City Council seats.

Qualifying there took take place at the Hart County Board of Elections office on Cade St. in Hartwell.

In Hartwell, three City Council seats currently held by Councilmen Stephen Ayers, Mike McNabb, and Tony Haynie are open.

As of Wednesday, incumbent Mike McNabb has qualified. He will run unopposed.

Qualifying to succeed Tony Haynie so far are Jermaine Durham, Zach Adams, and David Little.

Qualifying to succeed Stephen Ayers are Debbie Henry, Toy Cynthia Wilkins, Christopher Martin, and Richard Sheller.

In Bowersville, City Council seats Post 1 and Post 4 are open and the Mayor’s seat.

Qualifying for the Mayor’s race is John Smith. He will run unopposed.

For City Council Post 1 Alicia Barnett has qualified and will run unopposed.

Two people have qualified for the City Council Post 4 seat. They are Donna Burney and Joyce Rumsey.

And a reminder if you plan to vote absentee both the Franklin and Hart County Board of Elections offices have begun accepting absentee ballot applications for the November elections.

Early voting will take place on October 16-November 3, and that will include two Saturdays: October 21 and October 28 from 9 am-5 pm.

The deadline to register to vote in the November Election is October 10.
