Qualifying ends today in Toccoa-Stephens County

Qualifying for the May General primary election continues through today in Toccoa-Stephens County.

The qualifying period began on Monday, March 2.

So far, several incumbent republican candidates have qualified.

Most recently, Wendy Dawkins qualified for Stephens County Board of Education District 1 Post 1, and Len Stovall for Stephens County Board of Education at-large seat.

Also, for the Stephens County Board of Education, incumbent Mark Smith has qualified for District 3 Post 2.

In other races, Dennis Bell has qualified for the Stephens County Board of Commissioners Post 3;

Debbie Whitlock for the Stephens County Board of Commissioners Post 2;

Tim Quick for Stephens County Clerk of Court;

Dene Hicks for Stephens County Tax Commissioner;

Chris Stephens for Stephens County Coroner;

Ann Pickett for Stephens County State Court Solicitor.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Post is the only contested race thus far, with incumbent Randy Shirley and Challenger Rusty Fulbright qualifying.

In non-partisan qualifying, Don Tabor has qualified for Chief Magistrate Judge; James Irvin for State Court Judge; and Glenda Ernest for Probate Judge.

Qualifying will end today at noon.
