Qualifying continues for City of Toccoa, Town of Martin

Qualifying for the City of Toccoa started Monday and will run through Wednesday, August 18.

According to City Clerk Fredda Wheeler, the qualifying period will run each day from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

She says two seats for the Toccoa City Commission will be on the ballet, Post 3 and Post 5, currently being held by Vice Mayor Jeanette Jamieson and Mayor Evan Hellenga.

The qualifying fee is $330.

Qualifying will be held at City Hall.

Additionally, Qualifying for the Town of Martin’s 2021 Municipal Election continues today in Stephens County.

Stephens County Election Supervisor April Roberts says qualifying is for two seats on the Martin Council.

Councilman Roger Looney and Councilwoman Sandy Stovall currently fill those seats.

According to Roberts, qualifying for the municipal election will run through August 18, at the Stephens County Registrar’s Office from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day.

To qualify, you must be 21 years of age on or before the date of Election, November 2, 2021.

You must be a resident of the Town of Martin for one year immediately prior to the date of the election.

Those qualifying for the position of Town Council shall file a Notice of Candidacy and pay a qualifying fee of $90.
