Public Hearings for Amendments to County Ordinances to be Held Tomorrow

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners, at tomorrow’s regularly scheduled meeting, will hold the first reading and public hearing for amendments to Stephens County Manufactured Homes & Trailers

Ordinance and the First reading and public hearing for amendments to the Stephens County land use ordinance. As of press time, WNEG News had been unable to obtain details regarding these amendments. WNEG News will update this story in tomorrow’s news broadcasts with information regarding these agenda items. 

Other items on tomorrow’s agenda include four land use public hearings regarding citizen requests for rezoning or conditional use/variance permits; 2024 alcohol license renewals for Lucky Food Mart, Lakeside Food Mart, Fast & Friendly, Buck’s Suprette, The Calico Store, Stumpys, Green Food Mart, Mill Creek Gathering Place, Currahee Vineyard & Winery, and 3464 Toccoa LLC; and discussion of a distance variance for property located at Hayes Road. 

Tomorrow’s Stephens County Board of Commissioners meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in the  Stephens County Historic Courthouse Courtroom, 70 N. Alexander Street in Toccoa. The public is invited to attend. WNEG News will provide a livestream of the meeting, beginning at 6 p.m., on our Facebook page. 

The next scheduled meeting of the Board of Commissioners will be held on Tuesday, December 14, at 6 p.m.

Land Use Public Hearing

  1. Rezoning Request from Heath & Amethyst Hutto, Highway 17/Apache Drive, Eastanollee. Parcels 053A 054, 053A 055, 053A 056. Property is currently zoned as residential single. The proposed action to be taken is to rezone to commercial general to conform with the current use of the property as amobile home retailer.
  1. Conditional use Request from Adam Joseph Brumbaugh, 69 Crawford Circle, Toccoa. Parcel 051C Property is currently zoned as residential single. The proposed action to be taken is to grant a conditional use permit to allow for the raising of six head of miniature cattle (max weight 600 to 700 lbs each) for personal, hobby-level use.
  1. Variance Request from Tara Alexander, 891 Lakeside Trail, Martin. Parcel 072F 103. Property is currently zoned as residential single. The propsed action to be taken is to grant a variance of 10 ft to the 40 ft front yard setback to build a home on the property.
  1. Rezoning Request from Charles & Stephanie Bogart, Ida Bogart and Walter Bogart, 429 Eastanollee Livestock Road, Eastanollee. Parcel 053C 081. Property is currently zoned as agricultural intensive. The proposed action to be taken is to rezone 7.34 acres to agricultural residential for residential use.
