Authorities have released some information on a structure fire in Stephens County last week.
The fire took place on the evening of January 2 on Currahee Place.
According to a report from the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowner told authorities that he and a couple of friends had built a fire in the fire place.
The homeowner said in the report that he walked outside with his friends because they were leaving and when he walked back inside the house, the fire place and part of the wall were on fire.
No injuries were reported, but the house suffered extensive damage.
Meanwhile, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating a burglary on Yearwood Street.
The report stated that on January 2, someone told the Sheriff’s Office that a personal item worth about $230 was taken from a wooden storage building next to his house.
Finally, no injuries were reported after a minor traffic accident in front of Toccoa City Hall.
According to authorities, a motorist accidentally drove over the sidewalk and into the Olympic torch in front of City Hall Wednesday morning.
Damage to the torch was repaired.
