Pedestrian killed on Hwy 17, GSP trying to identify victim

Georgia State Patrol believe an accident that occurred Monday night, involving a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle, is a suicide.

The victim, a white male, remains unidentified as GSP wait for identification results from the crime lab to be returned.

The man was struck by a 2015 Volvo tractor trailer driven by Keith Inman, of Rockingham, North Carolina, officials confirmed Tuesday afternoon.

GSP Sgt. Chad Johnson told WNEG News that the pedestrian dove into the roadway, causing the driver of vehicle No. 1 to collide with the pedestrian.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:53 p.m. Oct. 2 on state Route 17 near Martin.

GSP has asked the public to come forward in hopes of identifying the victim.
