Panthers Take Two From Indians

The Stephens County Indians baseball team dropped a double-header Saturday to the Jackson County Panthers.

In the first game, the Panthers scored five runs in the first inning. The Indians countered with four runs in the bottom of the second, thanks to hits from Ben Stowe, Garrett Pless, Seth Jamieson and a two-run double from Nick Randall Jackson county came back with runs in the third and fifth innings. Ayden Garmen, Carson Worley and Cruz Mullinix all scored runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the Jackson County lead to 8-7.Ben Stowe doubled in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Indians could not bring him home.

Ayden Garmen pitched the first three innings, giving up 7 runs on six hits, striking out two and walking two. Patrick Murray finished out the game for the Indians.

In the second game, Nick Streuer pitched five shutout innings for the Panthers as Jackson County beat Stephens County 10-3. Streuer, and two other Panther pitchers, limited the Indians to just five hits. Carson Worley and Bailey Stowe knocked in the only runs for Stephens County in the bottom of the seventh.

Cruz Mullinix took the loss for the Indians in game two.

Stephens County is now 4-4 on the season while Jackson County moves to 5-3.

Stephens County’s next game is Tuesday evening in Rabun County against the Rabun County Wildcats.
