Open Arms Clinic 12 Days Of Christmas Food Drive Starts Today

With attention turned to Christmas, Toccoa/Stephens County’s Open Arms Clinic is kicking off their annual Holiday Food Drive. This year, in partnership with Neighbors4Neighbors to bring food items to needy families during the holiday season, they are hosting a 12 Days of Christmas Edition Food Drive.

According to Open Arms executive director Sherry Beavers, the food drive collected and distributed 52 boxes of food goods to those in need last year, and she challenges the community to meet or exceed last year’s generosity.

“The Holidays can be a difficult time for many, especially for those living on a tight budget. With increased winter fuel bills, rising costs, alongside the seasonal pressures, many will find themselves in food crisis,” Open Arms officials stated, saying that the food drive will begin today, December 1, and explaining that donations will be accepted at the Open Arms Clinic, 109 Big A Road, though December 12. Donations should be placed in a bag or box before being delivered.  The hours for donation drop offs are Tuesdays, 2-6 p.m. and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  For dropoff times on Wednesdays, call the clinic at (706) 491-8639.
