One Charged in Monday Morning Wreck on Big A Road

The driver of the Ford Fusion was hit head-on

A Toccoa woman is being charged by the Georgia State Patrol for causing a three-car wreck Monday on Big A Road.

It happened about 7a Monday morning at the light in front of Bell’s restaurant.

Trooper First Class Scott Campbell tells WNEG News a 2008 Mercury Milan driven by Hazel Shedd, age 82 of Toccoa was traveling north on Big A Road when her vehicle traveled across the center lane and hit a 2011 Ford Fusion traveling south on the driver’s side.

The Fusion, driven by 39-year old Alison Burton was then pushed into a 2016 Chevy Equinox SUV causing damage on the driver’s side.

Authorities a 2008 Mercury Milan crossed the center lane and struck another vehicle

Both Shedd and Burton were taken to Stephens County Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Their conditions are not known.

The driver of the Equinox was not injured.

Motorists traveling northbound on Big A Monday morning were rerouted while crews worked to clear the wreckage.

Trooper Campbell said Shedd has been charged with Failure to Maintain Lane.
