Oldham named sole finalist for superintendent position at Stephens County Schools

Stephens County Schools Deputy Superintendent Dr. Daniel Oldham has been named the sole finalist for the position of Stephens County School Superintendent effective July 1, 2020.

During the recent Stephens County Board of Education meeting, Stephens County Schools current Superintendent Bryan Dorsey recommended the Board of Education transfer his position of Superintendent to Project Specialist for the duration of his contract effective June 30, 2020.

Dorsey made the announcement during the HR Report.

“Ladies and gentlemen, part B of the HR Report will read this ‘the superintendent and the board mutually agree that as of July 1, 2020 I will transfer from the position of superintendent and be hired for the remainder of my contract as Project Specialist and that will be me ending June 30, 2020,’” he said. “One I would like to say that it is a honor to be in this role and to remain in this role until June 30, 2020. I would like to turn over Part C of our HR Report to our Chairman.”

Board of Education Chairman Rod Moore continued with part C of the HR Report, during which he announced that Oldham had been named the sole finalist for the Superintendent Position.

Moore says that Oldham will provide strong leadership to the school system.

The motion was approved unanimously; however, state law mandates a 14-day public comment period before Oldham’s appointment will become final.
