Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Makes Drug Arrests

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina arrested two men last week on drug charges.

On June 22, agents from the Narcotics Division along with Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division, the Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and officers from the P.A.C.E. team executed a search warrant in the Port Bass Community in southern Oconee County.

The two men arrested were identified as 22-year-old Terry Dwayne Smith and 31-year-old Jerry Mager Turner.

Agents seized two firearms and ammunition from the residence along with a quantity of narcotics.

As a result of Turner’s arrest, agents obtained consent to search Turner’s Short Street residence, where  drug paraphernalia was seized.

Smith has been charged in arrest warrants with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Possession of a Controlled Substance, as well as Simple Possession of Marijuana that was written on a ticket.  He remains in custody at this time on a combined $25,615.00 surety bond.

Turner was charged with Simple Possession of Marijuana that was written on a traffic ticket and was released from the Detention Center last week on a $615 personal recognizance bond.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.
