NWS calling for rounds of heavy rainfall this weekend in Northeast Georgia

The National Weather Service has issued a weather briefing for this weekend.

According to the briefing, the remnants of Hurricane Delta are forecast to move into the Tennessee Valley by Sunday, and a moist southern flow on the east side of this system could bring rounds of heavy rainfall to Northeast Georgia and the Western Carolinas from Saturday into the day on Monday.

As of Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service was expecting anywhere between 2 to 4 inches of rain for our area.

Additionally, severe thunderstorms or tornadoes cannot be ruled out Sunday afternoon, but chances are low due to uncertainty in how unstable the atmosphere will become.

WNEG News will continue to monitor the weather this weekend and bring you additional details as they become available.
