Number of COVID Cases continue to decline in Stephens County

The spread of COVID-19 continues to slow in Stephens and surrounding counties.

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting 126 COVID-related deaths in Stephens County with 5,895 residents testing positive for the virus, since the beginning of the global pandemic.

In Stephens County there has been a total of 384 hospitalizations due to the virus since the start of the pandemic.

The latest report was released Tuesday afternoon.

In the last two weeks, ending March 15, the DPH reports a total of 14 new cases in Stephens County.

For surrounding counties, Habersham County has 16 new cases in the last two weeks, Rabun County has 9, Banks County has 9, Franklin County has 6, and Hart County has 41 new cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been a total of 1,919,970 positive cases of the virus across the state of Georgia, of those 109,206 have been hospitalized and the total death count due to complications of the virus has now risen to 30,485.
