Northeast GA Bank Robber Apprehended in New York

The suspect involved in the robbery of Northeast Georgia Bank in Commerce was apprehended in New York last week.

The female, identified as Christi Diane Slade, 44 of Rensselaer, New York was detained at Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office last Thursday evening when she arrived to visit her incarcerated husband.

Slade had recently robbed another bank in Washington County, Maryland and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was able to contact the Banks County Sheriff’s Office to compare notes in the investigations.  A national lookout alert was then sent out.

Slade confessed to both bank robberies and is awaiting extradition to Maryland from New York to face Washington County Sheriff’s Office’s outstanding charges. She will then face extradition to Georgia to face Banks County Sheriff’s Office’s charge of armed robbery.

The investigation revealed that Slade has been convicted of charges related to conducting a bank robbery in 1993 and 2008. She was released from federal prison in 2013.
