North Georgia Tech Names Wayne Randall New School of Ag Program Director

North Georgia Technical College has a new School of Agriculture Program Director.

He is former Franklin County School Superintendent Wayne Randall.

“I look forward to teaching and getting back into the classroom, as well as working with business and agricultural leaders in the communities in Habersham and surrounding counties,” Randall told WNEG News Wednesday. “North Georgia Tech serves several surrounding counties, including Franklin. So, it’s going to be a good opportunity to get back into the community.”

Funded by the Tommy Irvin Foundation, the School of Agriculture opened for students this past spring term.

North Georgia Technical College President Dr. Mark Ivester noted Randall’s previous agriculture education experience is a perfect fit for the future of the college’s brand new School of Agriculture.

“Mr. Randall strongly believes in our college mission of workforce development, and his vision for equipping future farmers with the knowledge, education, and experience needed to be successful will propel our agriculture programming to a higher level of expertise.”

“North Georgia Technical College is very fortunate to have someone with Mr. Randall’s knowledge, leadership, and community connections as our Director of Agriculture,” said NGTC Dean of Academic Affairs, Leslie McFarlin. “Mr. Randall has worked very closely with our college throughout his career. He not only has a deep understanding of agriculture education, but technical education as a whole. I personally am very excited to work closely with him to build a great agriculture program and develop his progressive vision for our School of Agriculture.”

“Mr. Randall’s years of experience in education and agriculture will be a great benefit to the college, community and students of North Georgia Technical College,” said Mindy Glander, Vice President of Academic Affaris. “His passion for learning is exemplary and I look forward to Mr. Randall sharing that passion and knowledge when he begins teaching in our state of the art facilities in the near future. We have a great deal to be excited about. We feel the energy related to this program and that energy has grown tremendously since the announcement of Mr. Randall joining our team. It is truly inspiring.”

Prior to coming to North Georgia Tech, Randall served as the School Superintendent for the Franklin County School System from 2016 6o 2019.

He also served in Franklin County as the Assistant School Superintendent and Principal of Franklin County High School.

Randall earned a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Education from the University of Georgia in 1988, a Master’s degree of Agriculture from Clemson University in 1996, and received an Educational Specialist degree from the University of Alabama in 2004.
