North Georgia Credit Union Announces Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for New Clayton Office

North Georgia Credit Union will hold the ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration for the new Clayton office on Tuesday, October 24.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by the grand opening celebration from noon to 4:00 p.m.

The new office, located at 579 U.S. Highway 441 South, features a full-service lobby equipped with a drive-thru, ATM and night depository.

Chartered originally in 1941 as the Letourneau Federal Credit Union in Toccoa, the credit union’s membership base has been greatly expanded over the years. NGCU first began serving members in the Rabun County area in 2018 upon the completion of a merger with the Rabun-Tallulah FCU, which served the local school system employees for many years. While NGCU continues to serve the schools, membership is now open to anyone that lives or works in Rabun County.

NGCU President/CEO Brian Akin said, “We are excited to finally open our new location in Clayton, as this has been a priority for our credit union since the merger with Rabun-Tallulah FCU in 2018. Finding the right location in a tough real estate market proved to be quite the challenge. I can’t say enough good things about our local developer, Jim Suddes, for his understanding of our vision, and his efforts to make that vision a reality. Now, as we get to work on serving the area, I am confident that the community will quickly come to appreciate the credit union difference. We have a very talented team in our Clayton office, led by Branch Manager Jessica Ware. They have already been getting engaged in the community and carrying out our long-established legacy of being a good corporate citizen.”

North Georgia Credit Union is a full-service, member-owned financial cooperative dedicated to offering its members the highest level of services at the best value possible. The credit union offers a full range of products and services, including all types of loans, free checking, debit cards, direct deposit, payroll deductions, IRAs, share certificates, online and mobile banking.

With offices in Toccoa, Lavonia, Hartwell and now Clayton, the credit union currently serves over 11,700 members. Its membership is comprised of employees, retirees and family members of over 100 area companies, plus the residents of Stephens, Franklin, Hart and Rabun counties.
