No Summer Lunches Provided This Week Due to July 4 Holiday

Just a reminder for those who have children taking advantage of the Seemless Summer Meals Program that there are no summer meals being offered this week due to the July 4th holiday.

Kim Caudell is the Nutrition Director for Stephens County Schools tells WNEG News the program will pick up again next week on Monday, July 8.

During the summer months, the program provides a free sack lunch, Monday through Friday, to children 18 and younger in Stephens County.

It may be hard to believe, but there are many children in Stephens county who don’t get enough to eat during the summer months. There are 8 locations throughout the county where children can pick up free lunches.

Each day, Monday through Friday, at 10:30 a.m. lunches will be available for pickup at Stephens Drive Apartments and Stephens County Middle School Cafeteria.

At 11:05 a.m. lunches will be available at The Pines Apartments; then at 11:15 a.m. lunches can be picked up at Fern Point.

At 11:40 a.m. lunches will be available for pickup at the Falls Park Apartments and Morgan Place.
Then at noon, lunches can be picked up at Doyle Street Pool.

Lastly, children can pick up lunches at 12:15 at Wood Street.

Stephens County Middle School Cafeteria will provide free breakfast at 8 a.m. each day.
Caudell says there are no forms to fill out and no registration to participate in the program. She adds that children must be present to receive a meal and meals must be consumed on site.

But again, there are no summer lunches being offered this week due to the July 4th holiday.

The Seemless Summer meals program will pick up again next week on Monday, July 8 at the regular locations.
