No football tonight for SCHS Indians

No football tonight for the Stephens County Indians.

Earlier in the week, the Indians road game at Oconee County scheduled for tonight was called off due to one active positive COVID case on the coaching staff and one active positive case on the football team, along with several team members that were quarantined.

That makes the second consecutive week a game has been cancelled—last Friday’s home game against Hart County was also called off due to COVID-related issues.

Stephens County is scheduled to wrap-up the regular season next Friday, November 20th, when they host East Jackson.

That will also be Senior Night for all fall sports as well as band and auxiliary.

The team practiced yesterday for the first time since early last week.

Last night on the Crunch Time radio show, Indians defensive line coach, Brad Whitfield, says the team was ready to get back to work.

Even though the Stephens County/Oconee County game will not be played, two other Region 8-AAA games are scheduled to take place tonight as Franklin County travels to Monroe Area and Hart County will play at East Jackson.

Looking elsewhere around the area this evening, Rabun County will host Union County, Madison County will host East Hall, and Commerce will be on the road at Washington-Wilkes.

Banks County is off tonight; White County’s game with Gilmer County was cancelled; and Habersham Central will host Central Gwinnett on Tuesday night.
