Night Of Lights Toccoa Christmas Parade set for Saturday evening

The annual Toccoa Christmas Parade is just around the corner, and the Toccoa/Stephens County Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for an exciting event, says Chamber President Julie Paysen.

The Night Of Lights parade, which is scheduled for this coming Saturday, Dec. 9, will be a combination of traditional customs and new features, she said.

The parade, which is an evening event this year, will start at 6 p.m. and there are already more than 60 entrants signed up.

She said that registration deadline for entries was last week, and all spots are full, but she is looking forward to working with any new entrants in next year’s parade.

The route for the parade will be the traditional route for the Toccoa Christmas Parade, starting on Doyle Street near Troup’s Photo Studio.

There will be drone coverage and a photographer providing still shots of each parade entry, both of which will be provided on the Visit Toccoa social media platforms.

WNEG News will be announcing the floats, and will be livestreaming the entire parade on the WNEG Radio Facebook page

Paysen said that, unlike years previously, there will be no voting or judging for parade entries.

She said streets shut down for the parade later in the afternoon, but that shopping and downtown restaurants will be open all day and urged people to come downtown and support local businesses.
