Night Of Lights Toccoa Christmas Parade may be rescheduled

The annual Toccoa Christmas Parade is scheduled for tomorrow evening, and in a message sent yesterday to participants, city officials noted that the parade would be rescheduled in case of rain.

The email to those who have registered to enter floats in the parade specified that lineup for the parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the parade is scheduled to start promptly at 6 p.m. The email also advised that, in the event of heavy rains, the parade would be rescheduled.

A final update on the status of the parade is expected to be made by noon tomorrow, and WNEG News will update our website and our Facebook page with any announcements as soon as they are made available.

As reported earlier this week on WNEG News, The Night Of Lights parade will be a combination of traditional customs and new features, according to  Toccoa/Stephens County Chamber of Commerce President Julie Paysen.

The parade, which is an evening event this year, will start at 6 p.m.

The route for the parade will be the traditional route for the Toccoa Christmas Parade

There will be drone coverage and still photos of the event provided on the Chamber’s Visit Toccoa social media platforms.

WNEG News will be announcing the floats, and will be livestreaming the entire parade on the WNEG Radio Facebook page

Paysen said that, unlike in previous years, there will be no voting or judging for parade entries.

She said streets shut down for the parade later in the afternoon, but that shopping and downtown restaurants will be open all day and urged people to come downtown and support local businesses.
