NGTC to hold first Program Preview on Currahee Campus

By Mark Berryman, WLHR

North Georgia Technical College will be hosting the first Program Preview on their Currahee campus as a way to introduce prospective students to the many options they offer for post-high school education. The campus is located at 9238 Highway 17 between Toccoa and Lavonia.

Leslie McFarlin, Dean of Academic Affairs at North Georgia Technical College talks about the event.

“Thursday, July 12, from 4-7 p.m. we’re having live demonstrations, it’s called Program Preview, at the Curahee Campus. We’re going to highlight several programs including Auto Collision, CDL, CNC, Clinical Lab, Criminal Justice, Culinary, Early Childhood Education, HVAC, Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technology, Practical Nursing, Registered Nursing, Robotics and Engineering. Many of those programs are offered as a tuition-free program as well,” said McFarlin.

Tours of the campus will be taking place throughout the evening and food will be provided as well. Along with seeing first-hand what the school has to offer, those who RSVP can score a free t-shirt.

“People who RSVP to our marketing department will receive a free t-shirt. Folks who come out to the free preview on July 12 will receive a t-shirt and another free gift if they apply to the college at that time. If they make that decision to come to North Georgia Tech and they fill out an application, we’re going to fill them up with some goodies at that point,” said McFarlin.

The school is also preparing for those who, once they see program demonstrations, decide they are ready to take the next step. Admissions and financial counselors will be on hand to help with this as well.

“We’ll have our admissions and financial aid staff at the Program Preview available to answer all of your questions. We have a lot of financial help offerings. We have Pell Grant, Hope, we also offer scholarships through our North Georgia Tech Foundation. I don’t want anyone to think they can’t afford to come back to school because there are a lot of opportunities out there to help you with tuition,” said McFarlin.

Again, the event will take place on the Currahee campus of NGTC on Thursday, at 4:00 p.m.
