NGTC Rick Perkins Award Announced
A Toccoa resident wins an award from North Georgia Technical College.
Pharmacy Technology Instructor Christy Bivins was named the school’s Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Education Winner for 2014.
She was selected from a group of four finalists.
The Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction has been an ongoing statewide event since 1991.
It is designed to recognize technical college instructors who make significant contributions to technical education through innovation and leadership in their fields.
Bivins received a plaque and was presented with an award made possible by donations from the Blairsville Rotary and the Clarkesville Kiwanis organizations.
Bivins will now continue to the next level of competition, representing North Georgia Technical College at the regional level on March 4.
The state winner will be selected at the annual Technical College System of Georgia Leadership Conference in April.
North Georgia Technical College President Dr. Gail Thaxton said Bivins exemplifies the outstanding reputation the instructors have achieved at North Georgia Tech.
Thaxton added that Bivins is an inspiration to her students and will represent North Georgia Tech and its faculty well at the regional and state levels.
