NGHS could be pushed out of United Healthcare’s network of healthcare providers if negotiations don’t go well

Northeast Georgia Health System could be forced out of United Healthcare’s network of healthcare providers.

Northeast Georgia Health System and United Healthcare are negotiating its partnership; but, if no agreement is reached, on May 1, 2023, patients carrying United Health Insurance might not be able to use it at Northeast Georgia Health System’s facilities.

United Healthcare has sent out letters to its policy holders addressing the possible issue.

In the letter it says, “We’re currently negotiating with Northeast Georgia Health System in an effort to renew our relationship while providing fair and competitive reimbursement. We know the care you receive from them is not only important but also personal. We are fully committed to engaging in productive, good-faith negotiations and are focused on our goal of renewing our contract so that you have continued access to care without disruption. However, if we’re unable to reach an agreement, Northeast Georgia Health System may no longer be part of your health insurance’s network beginning May 1, 2023.”

The letter continues, “As the rapid rise in health care costs continue to be a concern for both you and your employer, we’re focused on the dual priority of ensuring you have access to quality, affordable health care while Northeast Georgia Health System is reimbursed for its services at fair and competitive rates. If we are able to reach a new agreement with them, we will send you a letter to let you know.”
