New Police Chief for North Georgia Tech Campuses

North Georgia Technical College recently named Colbert, Ga. native Mark Pulliam as the school’s new Chief of Police.

Before joining the team at NGTC on May 1st, Pulliam spent 21 years in local law enforcement. For the last 17 of those years, he was Traffic Unit Lieutenant with the Athens-Clarke Police Department.

Additionally, Pulliam is a graduate of Athens Technical College he received his Associates degree. He then went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree and a master’s in Public Safety Administration at Columbus State.

“My plans for the campus police department are to make it as open and accessible as possible to all who may need our services,” said Pulliam. “This includes students, employees, visitors and also building relationships with all possible stakeholders in the communities that we serve.”

Pulliam says the role of campus police at NGTC is to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for students, working environment for faculty and staff, and the same for visitors of the campus.

“I have enjoyed my first few weeks with the college and look forward to meeting the different challenges as I transition from a traditional municipality police force to a campus police environment,” said Pulliam.

North Georgia Technical College is the first technical college in the state of Georgia, and is part of the Technical College System of Georgia.

Its main campus is in Clarkesville, with additional campuses in Toccoa and Blairsville.
