New exhibits to be unveiled at Stephens County Historical Museum

The Stephens County Historical Society has announced that two new exhibits will be featured at the Stephens County Historical Museum.

The first, is an outside exhibit of an original horse watering trough and water pump used in downtown Toccoa during the 1800s and 1900s.

The exhibit also features a replica of horse hitching post, similar to what would have been used at the time.

The second new exhibit is inside the local history museum.

This exhibit is entitled “Toccoa’s Music Trailblazers.”

“Toccoa’s Music Trailblazers” features profiles on Ida Cox, Jake Staggers, Milkshake Mayfield, and the Toccoa Symphony.

These four profiles were added to the existing exhibit that includes profiles on James Brown, the Famous Flames, and Tommy Scott.

On Monday, September 30, the Stephens County Historical Museum Board of Directors will hold a dedication for the two new exhibits.

The dedication is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m., at the history museum, located in the train depot.

The public is invited to attend.
