NEGA Medical Center brings Mobile Simulation Lab to SCH to train EMS employees

Earlier this week, Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s Mobile Simulation Lab was at Stephens County Hospital to provide training to Emergency Medical Services employees.

Stephens County Hospital’s EMS Director and Stephens County Coroner Chris Stephens says they were doing several simulations during the training.

“We have the Mobile Simulation Lab that is sponsored by the Northeast Georgia Medical Center on-site today, so that we can do some hands-on training. We’ll be doing several different scenarios. The first one is pediatric trauma, the second one being a neonatal resuscitation, and then also we’re doing a stroke scenario. They’ve added in a fourth one, so we’re doing some extra training on our new ventilators. And we’re doing a simulation of transporting a patient so we’re getting some training to use our new ventilator,” he said.

He says they have at least 19 EMS employees who will be going through the training and also some other staff members from the Hospital who will be trained as well.

“Of course, it’s sponsored by the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. It is sponsored by their trauma services and also their neurosciences department, those are the big sponsors. Air Life Georgia is also involved. We have at least 19 EMS employees who will be going through it. We also have respiratory therapist going through it and some of our nurses will be going through it. It’s good for us to have that hands-on training,” he said.

He says each scenario lasts about 30 minutes.

He says the hospital is grateful for Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s generosity in bringing the Mobile Simulation Lab to Stephens County at no charge.
