NDO now scheduling appointments for Cooling CARES Help

Ninth District Opportunity is now scheduling appointments for Cooling CARES Help.

They began taking appointments on Wednesday.

The Cooling CARES program is available for households who have NOT had heating or cooling assistance since November 2019 and help assistance with their home cooling bills.

Ninth District Opportunity Representative for Stephens County, Paula Duley tells WNEG News one-time payments of up to $400 will be made by check issued to the home cooling suppliers on behalf of eligible households.

Eligibility for the program is based on the income of all household members and all eligible households must be responsible for their home cooling costs.

Applicants are asked to contact Ninth District Opportunity’s scheduling system at 888-636-3125 or you can go online to www.ndo.org/eap.

Duley said they will take appointments until all funds are exhausted.

Again, only households who have not had heating or cooling assistance since November 2019 may apply.

If funds are available, income eligible households who do not qualify for the program in July, may try to apply again on August 3, 2020.

The Cooling CARES program is for eligible households in 20 Northeast Georgia counties, including Franklin, Hart, Stephens, Madison, Banks, and Elbert counties.
