MST receives grant to continue Night at the Ritz

Main Street Toccoa is the recipient of a grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts.

The Georgia Council for the Arts is an extension of the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

Main Street Manager Christian Hamilton says grant funds will be utilized by Main Street Toccoa to assist with the implementation of Season Six of the Night at the Ritz event series.

Since 2017, Night at the Ritz has brought in 8,521 patrons to Downtown Toccoa to experience the arts and artistic education.

Hamilton says season six will begin on September 23 with Magician Ken Scott.

Tickets are available now for all scheduled season six shows, and additional shows will be announced in the near future.

Ritz Theatre General Manager Tami Mayhugh says this is the sixth year that they have received this grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts.

Funds awarded by Georgia Council for the Arts include appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Georgia Council for the Arts uses Peer Review Panels to judge and review applications following standard practices set by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Panelists are GCA Council members and fellow professionals who are experienced in the arts discipline or type of grant being reviewed, or are citizens with a record of arts activities, experience, and knowledge.

Grant recipients include theaters, dance companies, museums, cities, colleges, and multi-discipline arts entities.
