Mrs. Ozelle Sheriff Cothran

Mrs. Ozelle Sheriff Cothran, age 94, of Toccoa, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at her home.  Born December 10, 1926 in Toccoa, she was the daughter of the late John Frances and Effie Elrod Sheriff.  She was a member of Tom’s Creek Baptist Church and worked at Wal-Mart as a “Greeter” for many years.

Family members include her sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Kathy Cothran, Steve and Angie Cothran, and Rick and Jill Cothran; grandchildren, Crystal and Josh Teague, Kim and Michael Babbitt, Leanna and Tyler Coker, Megan Cothran, Morgan and Jason Roach, and Andy Cothran; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Peggy Blackmon; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Millard “Jimmy” Cothran; sisters, Mae Chapman, Etta Hill, Carrie Smith, Velma Martin, and Marine Grover; brothers, Charles Sheriff, Robert Sheriff.

Funeral services will be held at  two o’clock Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Tom’s Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Marcus and the Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating.

Burial will follow at Tom’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Josh Teague, Michael Babbitt, Tyler Coker, Jason Roach, Larry LeCroy, Ronnie Williams, Lucas Pitts, David Fowler, Andy Cothran, and Zack Cothran.

The family request any Walmart Associates that would like to attend the service to meet at Tom’s Creek Baptist Church at 1:30pm to serve as honorary pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 2pm – 4pm and 6pm – 8pm Saturday, January 16, 2021.

Due to the conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, social distancing will be observed.  Those attending the service are encouraged to wear a mask.
