Mrs. Ollie Effie Shoemaker Smith

Born August 21, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Marion “Tob” Shoemaker and the late Louisa Hay Shoemaker.  Mrs. Smith was a machine operator at PPI (now PMI) in Hoschton.  Mrs. Smith was a dedicated Christian and of the King James Bible.  She loved all of her children and grandchildren, and she always wanted everyone to be sure to know Jesus as their Savior.

Family members include her sons, Vernard “Vern” Smith (Arlene) of Jefferson, GA, Eddie Smith (Edith Franklin), and Ronald Smith, all of Toccoa; two grandsons, Tim Smith and Grady Smith (Tinna), her granddaughters, Tika Smith Henderson (Justin) of Texas, Cindy Johnson (David), Sandy Dean, Diana Champagne (David), Jessica Smith (Jamie), and Amy Callaway (Jeff); her great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, Bridget, Breana, Landon, Braxton, Lilly, Dakota, Nathen, Ian, Avery, Autumn, Addison, Hayley, and Tyson; and a brother, David Willie Shoemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orbin Grady Smith, a son, Roy Alvin Smith, and her brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 9:30 AM until the funeral hour on Thursday.

Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock Thursday, May 23, 2024 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Mike Petty officiating.  Burial will be at Jackson Memorial Gardens in Commerce.
