Mrs. Mildred Gay Sparks
Mrs. Mildred Gay Sparks, age 94 of West Currahee Street, Toccoa passed away Saturday June 11, 2022 at her residence.
Born April 25, 1928 in Brooks County, Georgia, She was a daughter of the late Bessie Davis and Sam Bond Gay. She was preceded in death by her husband Al Sparks, a son Gerald (Jerry) Sparks, son-in-law Tom Bennett, and brothers Raymond Gay, Frank Gay and Jack Gay.
She lived the greater part of her life in Stephens County and was associated with Patterson Pump for 27 years.
She was former President of the Pilot Club of Toccoa, former President of Campfire Girls of Toccoa, Charter member of Grace Baptist Church and a member of Faith Sunday School Class. She worked as a volunteer for the military museum.
Survivors include a daughter Ginger Currans Bennett, son and daughter-in-law David and Liliana Sparks, grandchildren Brittany Johnson and husband Christopher Johnson, Allie and Gillian of Queretaro, Mexico, three sisters and brother-in-law Linda and Darrell Plymel of Moultrie, Georgia, Elizabeth and Jim Glass of Nashville, Tennessee, Betty and Roger Holmes of Nashville, Tennessee, two brothers and sisters-in-law Guy and Beth Gay of Jacksonville, Florida, Libby Gay of Valdosta, Georgia, Joyce Gay of Albany, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 14, 2022 at 2 P.M. at Grace Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Tommy Childress and the Reverend Scott Alexander officiating. The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Interment will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens
