Mrs. Mattie Purdy Holland

Mrs. Mattie Lillian Purdy Holland, age 98, of Toccoa, GA, slipped into heaven in the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Stephens County Hospital.  Her family stood around her bed sharing her last moments on this earth.

Born March 18, 1924, in Toccoa, she was the daughter of the late Loy Purdy, Sr. and Kitty E. Grist Purdy.  She was of the Pentecostal Faith and was retired from Toccoa Casket Company.  Mattie was a member of the Stephens County Hospital Auxiliary.  She was also a seamstress and was the best Vegetable Soup Maker.

Family members include daughters, Rebecca Baldwin (Gary) of Clover, SC, Rachael Shirley (Nelson) of Clarkesville, GA, and Ramona Meeks (Jeffery) of Toccoa; son, Ronald Holland (Shelby) of Toccoa; granddaughters, Melissa Campbell (Jerry) of Clover, SC, Angelia Kiker (Robb) of Clarkesville, GA, Hilliary Bentley (Joshua) of Martin, GA, and Jessica Coomer (Aaron) of Hamilton, OH; grandsons, Russell Baldwin and Michael Baldwin; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and 2 special friends and caregivers, Marshelia Boyd and Adriane Ford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Joseph Holland; brother, Loy Purdy, Jr.; and sisters, Marceleen Keller and Sarah Purdy.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 5pm – 8pm Thursday, September 29, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Friday, September 30, 2022 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Milton Smith and the Rev. Paul Garrison officiating.

Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jeffery Meeks, Joshua Bentley, Michael Baldwin, Robb Kiker, Larry Mealor, and Russell Baldwin.
