Mrs. Majoria Ann Vaughan Shaver

Mrs. Majoria Ann Vaughan Shaver, age 83, of Carnesville, GA, passed away Friday,

September 3, 2021 at The Oaks at Scenic View.

Born July 6, 1938, in Gainesville, GA, she was the daughter of the late Bonnie B. and Willie Mae Gravitt Vaughan.

She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and was a retired Registered Nurse.  Ann graduated from Grady School of Nursing and taught Nursing at Brenau University.  She was the Director of Nursing at two nursing homes in Georgia and Director of Nursing at Tanner Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, GA before moving to Toccoa in 1973.  She worked at Stephens County Hospital and also served as Assistant Administrator for a number of years.  Ann continued serving on various State Boards and traveled throughout Georgia implementing and certifying nursing programs.  After retirement, she enjoyed sewing, crafting and reading.

Family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Al and Pam Shaver of Greenville, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and David Walters of Toccoa; grandchildren, Caleb Walters, Adam Shaver, Marlee Grouge, and Andrew Walters; great-grandchildren, Eleanor Walters and Jaina Shaver; her sister, Pam Wilkinson; and a niece, Jeanna Batten of VA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Kent Allerton Shaver; and her grandson, Matthew David Walters.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 1:30 until the funeral hour on Sunday, September 5, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at three o’clock Sunday, September 5, 2021 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Joey Stewart and the Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating.

A private burial will be at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Caleb Walters, Adam Shaver, David Walters, Kyle Grouge, Cory Andrews, and Jerrell Beatty.

Due to community health concerns, we encourage those attending visitation and the service to wear a mask and to continue to practice social distancing.
