Mrs. Laverne Hilley

Mrs. Laverne Griffin Hilley, age 78, of Toccoa passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at her home.

Born on October 22, 1944, in Stephens County, she was the daughter of the late James Worth and Amanda Martin Griffin.

Mrs. Hilley was a member of Sunshine Methodist Church.  She worked for GTE for 30 years, and retired from Franklin County Board of Commissioners where she was county clerk for 15 years.

Family members include her daughter, Pam Moore (Tim) of Toccoa; son, Eric Hilley (Jennifer) of Lavonia; granddaughters, Ashley Hilley, Gracie Hilley Morgan (Ben) and Elizabeth Hilley; grandsons, Clay Moore (Hilary), Will Moore (Grace) and Andrew Hilley (Lori); great-grandchildren, Hadley Moore, Jack Moore, Jase Moore and Oliver Hilley; sisters, Lucy Dover of Toccoa and Brinda McFarlin (Sam) of Danielsville, GA; brother, Don Griffin (Joan) of Clarkesville, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Jackie” Hilley; brother Terrell Griffin; sister-in-law, Jan Griffin of Alford, FL; and brother-in-law, Bobby Dover of Toccoa.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm Saturday, August 5, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at two o’clock on Sunday, August 6, 2023, from the Chapel at Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Bill Hyndman and Dr. Tommy Childress officiating.  Burial will follow at Roselane Cemetery.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers:  Clay Moore, Will Moore, Andrew Hilley, Mike Dover, Brannon McFarlin and Rocky Farrow.
