Mrs. Elizabeth Kesler Skelton

Mrs. Elizabeth Kesler Skelton, age 104, of Toccoa, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021 at her home.

Born October 23, 1917 in Jackson, County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Lamb and Frances “Fannie” Hancock Kesler.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Toccoa First United Methodist Church, and the Trogdon Sunday School Class.  Elizabeth and her husband Bruce had lived in Athens, GA before moving to Toccoa in 1982. She was also a member of the V. F. W. Women’s Auxiliary.

Mr. Skelton served in the United States Air Force during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.  Elizabeth, being a very supporting wife, traveled with him for 27 years.

Family members include her son, Richard Bruce Skelton of Oxford, GA; daughter, Jane Skelton of Colorado; grandson, Sam Skelton; great-grandsons, Joseph Skelton and Jaden Skelton; great-granddaughters, Hallie Skelton and Sophia Skelton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Bruce Skelton in 2005; sisters, Olivia Wright and Johnnie Smith.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 9:30am until the service on Friday, October 29, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock Friday, October 29, 2021 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Brent White officiating.

Burial will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery, 297 Cemetery Street, Athens, GA 30605.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
