Mrs. Betty Jean Franklin Mazzei

Mrs. Betty Jean Franklin Mazzei, age 92 of Dearing, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 26,2023 surrounded by her family after a long battle with dementia.

A daughter of the late Walter B. Franklin and Gladys English Franklin, she was born July 10,1931 in Clarkesville, Georgia having moved to Atlanta, Georgia after graduating from Clarkesville High School.  Early in her career, she worked with Lockheed Martin and went on to work with J.O. King, Inc, where she retired with over 40 years of service.   She loved dressing up in her jewelry and fancy clothes, loved music and loved to dance, was an avid reader and loved her cats.  She was a Christian, having been associated with many faiths.  Her later years took her to live with her daughter and son-in-law in Dearing, Georgia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Louise (Alvin) Martin, Lucille
(Thomas) Morgan, Walter B. Franklin, Jr., Bobby (Joyce) Franklin, Tommy Franklin and Lewis Franklin.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa Mazzei Austin and Thomas of Dearing, Georgia; four step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren; brother, Dorsey Franklin of Toccoa; twenty-three nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services that were scheduled for December 30th have been postponed until a later date.
