Mrs. Ann Farmer Barfield

Mrs. Ann Farmer Barfield, age 96 of Toccoa passed away Sunday, November 12,2023 at the home of her daughter.

A daughter of the late Henry Calloway Farmer and Essie Palmer Farmer, she was born May 30,1927 in Banks County, Georgia, having lived all her life in Stephens County.  She was retired from Stephens County School System where she worked in the cafeteria for 23 years.  She was a member of Toccoa Assembly of God.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved to cook and was especially famous for her apple pies.   She loved going to church, going to the beach, especially Tybee Island and loved going fishing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Hugh Barfield, by three brothers, J.C. Farmer, Jerry Farmer and Sam Farmer and by two sisters, Madilene Parson and Barbara Sue Farmer and by a grandson, Brady Parson.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Maurice Hicks of Toccoa; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Parson of Toccoa, Michael and Carol Parson of Alto and Clint and Loretta Parson of Toccoa; stepchildren, Debra Graham of Fargo, North Dakota, Laura Sivertson, Brenda Booth and Linda Poliquin all of Jacksonville, Florida; twenty-one grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 15, 2023, 11 o’clock a.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Tim Griffin officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Jay Parson, Dustin Parson, D.J. Parson, Bryan Hicks, Peyton Savage and Rob Fulbright.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Toccoa City Cemetery with The Reverend Dr. Tommy Childress officiating.
