Mrs. Alice Shirley Wade McCurley

Mrs. Alice Shirley Wade McCurley, age 86 of Toccoa passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Brown Health and Rehab in Royston, Georgia.

A daughter of the late Charlie Russell Wade and Nobie McGee Wade, she was born February 18, 1936 in Hart County, Georgia having lived in Banks and Stephens County the greater part of her life.  She was retired with 40 years of service as a federal government meat inspector.  She was of the Holiness faith, loved reading her Bible, loved her family and grandkids but most of all loved the Lord.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis Edward Wade, her second husband, Marvin McCurley, two sons, Cleveland Wade and Roger Wade and by four sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Michael Cheek of Toccoa; daughter-in-law, Linda Gail Wade of Toccoa; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; others who were like family to her, Juanita Dill, Mary Kimbrell, Polly Savage, Jeannie Tomlin and Ronnie Wade; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 30, 2022, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Dorsey Holmes and Mr. Jeff Carter officiating.  The following will serve as pallbearers, Jonathan Jordan, Stacy Jordan, Kenneth Kinsey, Dillon Kinsey, Kenneth Taylor and Nolan Parker.

Flowers are optional.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 in memory of Mrs. Alice Shirley Wade McCurley.

Interment will follow in the Toccoa City Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Alice Shirley Wade McCurley.
