Mr. William Patrick Scully

Mr. William Patrick Scully, age 82, of Toccoa, GA, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at his home.  Born December 17, 1939 in Riverside, CA, he was the son of the late Weinell Toso Scully and the late William Alan Scully.

Bill grew up in Riverside, CA and upon graduation from high school he entered the Navy and was stationed on the aircraft carrier the Kearsarge and later in Adak, Alaska.  Following four years in the Navy, he returned to California and entered Pasadena Nazarene College.  After graduation, he traveled across the country to Wheaton College outside Chicago, Illinois.   It was at Wheaton where he met and married his wife Jane.  They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past November.  Bill received his MA in New Testament from Wheaton Graduate School in 1967.  Bill owned and operated the business “Insurance Solutions for over 45 years.  He enjoyed assisting clients finding the best plan (life, health, or disability) for them and their families.  He felt it was a ministry that God had led him to.  Bill always had hobbies from off road motorcycle racing to raising a small flock of sheep and training his five Border Collie dogs for sheep herding competitions.  The competitions he won over the years with his dogs were the Kentucky Blue Grass and the Georgia Sheep Dog Competition. Over the 56 years Bill and Jane were married they built and owned three houses.  Bill always did the inside finishing (painting, woodwork and trimming) on each of the homes.  The last three years Bill has volunteered with “Search For Jesus” internet ministry with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association offered to people around the world who have spiritual questions.  Bill recently mentioned that over the years he had received and answered over 700 questions from different countries.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Allen Toso.  Bill’s survivors include his wife, Jane; son, Stephen (Shirley) Scully; granddaughter, Erin Elisabeth Scully and her mother, Kimberley Scully; sister, Charlya (Ralph) Johnson; nephews, Jay (Dolores) Johnson, Jan (Deanna) Johnson and Ralph III (Krissy) Johnson; and special pal, Shep dog

A family graveside service will be held at Roselane Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Search For Jesus internet program; Samaritans Purse, or the Toccoa Stephens County Humane Shelter.
