Mr. William David “Fud” Watkins

Mr. William David “Fud” Watkins, age 75 of Eastanollee passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021 at St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital, Lavonia, Georgia.

A son of the late Narvy and Myrtle Presley Watkins, he was born April 25, 1946 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived all his life.  He was employed in the construction business as a mechanic having worked with Watkins Construction and Scott Brothers Crushed Stone and later owned Watkins Tire Service.  His enjoyment in life was his horses, mules and wagons, his cowboy truck and his dog Sam.  He was a member of Eastanollee Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Lowery, by three brothers, Harold, Joel and Tommy Watkins and by three sisters, Mary Free, Bonnie Collins and Josie Bohannon.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Maggie Swaims Watkins; four children, Buckey (Vickie) Watkins of  Belton, South Carolina, Ann Watkins and Christine Brothers both of Martin, Georgia and Deborah Albertson of Mount Sterling, Kentucky; brother and sister-in-law, Noah and Pearly Sue Watkins of Toccoa; grandchildren, Chrysti Fulghum, Dale Fulghum, Cale Fulghum, Daniel Fulghum, Heather Brothers, Dillon Brothers, Robert Franklin, John Strickland and James Strickland; great-grandchildren, Andrew Certain, Payton Certain, Marina Ramey, Braiden Ramey, Ray Fulghum, Kinsley Fulghum, Cassidy Fulghum, Brooklyn Fulghum, McKenah Fulghum, Zac Fulghum and Millie Brothers; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 3, 2021, 2 O’clock p.m. at the Eastanollee Baptist Church with The Reverend Ricky McFarlin and The Reverend Ray Bohannon officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Clifford Cabe, Robert Ramey, Dale Fulghum, Cale Fulghum, Daniel Fulghum and Dillon Brothers.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Online condolences may be left for the family at wwwa.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Eastanollee Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. William David “Fud” Watkins.
