Mr. Virgil Reed

Mr. Virgil Reed, age 85 of Citrus Springs, Florida passed away February 4, 2022 in Citrus County, Florida.

A son of the late Earl and Hallie Reed, he was born July 13, 1936 in Stephens County, Georgia where he grew up, and graduated from Toccoa High School where he played outstanding football. He was a 1962 graduate from Georgia State University.  Virgil had a long career with ZEP Manufacturing, managing branch offices in Birmingham Alabama, Houston Texas, Detroit Michigan and Denver Colorado.  Upon retiring it was off to Miami Florida for golf, travel and fun in the sun.  While living in Miami Florida, Virgil received a heart transplant in Tampa Florida at Tampa General Hospital 25 years ago and had an exceptional life enjoying many activities. Although he did not live in Toccoa, it was still considered home to him and he dearly loved his Georgia Bulldogs.

Virgil was a 50 year member of Toccoa Masonic Lodge, a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, served in the United States Air Force Air National Guard and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dunnellon, Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife June Trimble Reed; sisters-in-law, Lillian Reed, Joyce Reed and Mary (Jerry) Bagwell; brothers-in-law, Travis (Mary) Trimble and Charles (Penny) Trimble.

Memorial Service is planned for Friday, May 6, 2022, 1 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerrell Beatty Officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the service time.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paul Anderson Youth Home, P.O. Box 525, Vidalia, Georgia 30475 in memory of Mr. Virgil Reed.
