Mr. Troy Herman Wilmot, Jr.

Mr. Troy Herman Wilmot, Jr., age 69 of Toccoa passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family.

A son of the late Troy Herman Wilmot, Sr. and Wilma Lewallen Wilmot, he was born October 7, 1954 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived all his life.  He attended Toccoa High School, home of the Purple Hurricanes and later graduated from Stephens County High School, home of the Indians.  He was employed in Law Enforcement for many years, having worked with the Toccoa Police Department, Clarke County Sheriff Department and as Sergeant on the DUI Task Force.  He later retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier.

He was a member of HillStreet Baptist Church where he taught Training Union, VBS and a Boys Class. He coached pee-wee football and baseball for a number of years.  He was an easy-going person, never complaining about anything.  He was a loving husband, father, papa and brother.  He was an avid and loyal Georgia football fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Wilmot.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Mary Burton Wilmot; daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and Rick Seamon of Newnan, Georgia and Mandy and Paul Carter of Toccoa; son, Lathan Wilmot of Toccoa; grandchildren, Taylor Seamon, Colton Seamon, Keeley Seamon, Cameron Wilmot, Madeline Wilmot, Brady Carter, Gracie Carter and Bryce Carter; sister Connie Finley, brother Brad Wilmot, sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Rev. Paul Jameson, and Glenda and Terry Ernest all of Toccoa.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 12, 2024, 2 o’clock p.m. at Hill Street Baptist Church with The Reverend Paul Garrison and The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Jeff Robertson, Michael Jameson, Scott Finley, Randy Hemphill, Matthew Childers and Terry Reed.  Honorary pallbearer will be Lathan Wilmot.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday at Hill Street Baptist Church at 12 p.m. until the service time at 2 p.m.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with The Reverend Paul Jameson officiating.
