Mr. Marvin Carter

Mr. Marvin Daniel Carter, age 86 of Toccoa, Georgia passed away Friday, June 25, 2021 at his home surrounded by his children.

Marvin was born October 5, 1934 Carnesville, Georgia to the late Ethel and Hubert Carter. He was a provider and father figure to his three younger siblings, Darwin Carter, Judy Phillips, and the late Geneva Moore. He resided in Waynesville, Georgia since 2006. He was a loving husband, father, papa, brother, and friend. He was a retired superintendent in road construction. He was an active member of Waynesville Baptist Church, but also attended Hill Street Baptist Church and New Bethel Baptist Church for many years where he served as a deacon in both churches.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 25 years, Macie McFarlin Carter and by his second wife, Allie Skipper Carter of 27 years.   Family members include a son, Daniel (Brenda) Carter of Silvester, West Virginia; twin daughters, Kay (Kelly) Bare of Waynesville, Georgia and Joy (Rod) Fernando of Toccoa; step-daughter, Kathy (Donnie) Sikes of Darrien; grandchildren, Brittany (Chad) Smith, Dani (Josh) Duane, Allyson Carter, Hannah (Joshua) Goodbar, Kelley Ann (Kevin) Rooks, Lacie (Jake) Bell and Hillarie Fernando; eleven great-grandchildren, Eli, Rylee, Hailey, Kaelyn, Finley, Lucas, Hayley, Annabelle, Jonah, Caroline, Allie; brother, Darwin (Ondeen) Carter of Toccoa; sister, Judy Phillips of Royston; a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his in-laws, Wallace (Wanda)Bare, Mary(David)Jackson and Ernistine Skipper and a dear loving friend of eleven years, Janice Patterson; great-grandson Elijah Patterson; half brother, Jerry Carter of Greenville, South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Suzanne Payne and Becky Savage; brothers-in-law, Sammy (Brenda) McFarlin and Titus McFarlin.

One of his last requests was for his children to tell all of his grandchildren, family and friends that he loved them all.

Funeral services will Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 2 O’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home officiated by his current pastor, Brother Vance Colley who he respected and loved and by The Reverend Paul Garrison.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Erwin Carter, Tim Moore, Jason Moore, Wallace Phillips, Jake Bell and Josh Goodbar.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday from noon until the service time.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Marvin Daniel Carter.
