Mr. Joseph “Joe” Preston Griffin, Jr.

Mr. Joseph “Joe” Preston Griffin, Jr., age 75 of Tybee Island, Georgia passed away at on Friday December 31, 2021 in Toccoa, Georgia.

A son of the late Joseph Preston Griffin Sr. and Lorena Masters Griffin, he was born July 29, 1946 in Savannah, Georgia and lived most of his life there. He moved to Toccoa and lived there for a period of time before moving back to Tybee Island. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a retired insurance agent. He returned back to work as a grounds keeper for the Savannah Beach and Racquet Club. He was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Tybee Island, Georgia. He was involved in many organizations such as Police Emerald Society of SE Georgia, Catholic War Veterans Post 1943, Shenanigans Society, Finean Society, Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, 4^th Degree Knight Assembly 173, Knights of Columbus Council 631, Ancient Order of Hibernians Msgr Daniel J. Bourke Div., Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Irish Heritage Society, Jaycees, and Eagle Scout and American Legion Post 154.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Brenda Clayton Griffin; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Lisa and Randall Perry and Amber and Joe Colon both of Toccoa; grandchildren Alyssa and Mason Simmons, Elijah Perry, Preston Perry, Abby and Taylor Felder, Chloe and Ky’unna Colon and Maddie Griffin: great grandchildren Adalyn and Kenlyn Simmons all of Toccoa; and a host of family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday, January 3, 2022, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

A memorial service will be held March 19, 2022 at American Legion Post 154, 10 Veterans Drive Tybee Island, GA 31328.
