Mr. James Watson Smith

Mr. James Watson Smith, age 85 of Toccoa, passed away Thursday December 2, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

A son of the late Clarence Watson and Jewel Pearl Allen Smith, he was born September 6, 1936 in Winder, Georgia having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. He was retired from Vermont American with many years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his dog Fellow.  He was a member of Bethel Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers Kenneth and T.J. Smith and one sister Christine Duvall.

Survivors include his wife Faye Nell Smith of the home, daughters and sons-in-law Teresa and Daniel Kellar of Eastanollee, Buffie Steele of Toccoa, Saprina and Wesley Ayers of Eastanollee, grandchildren Candi Spencer, Michael Stone, Jesse Steele, Savannah Ayers and Skyler Ayers, sisters Geraldine Simpson of Toccoa, Judy Gragg of South Carolina, Hazel Merck of Toccoa, Joyce Bowden of Toccoa, Crystal Rafool of North Carolina, Ann Parker of Bunnel, Florida and a sister-in-law Reba Smith and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday December 5, 2021 at 4 P.M. with the Reverend Gettys Allen and the Reverend Eddie Umberhant officiating. The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 P.M. til 8 P.M.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers Michael Stone, Jeff Carter, Jimmy Salmond, Kevin Spencer and Adam Brown.

Larry Hart will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Interment will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Doug Saylors officiating.

Military honors will be provided by V.F.W Post 4346.

Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements for Mr. James Watson Smith.
