Mr. James Swayne Lewallen

Mr. James Swayne Lewallen, age 75, of Toccoa, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at his home.

Born April 26, 1945 in Gillsville, GA, he was the son of the late Holman and Gertrude Lewallen.  He was of the Baptist Faith and was retired from Fieldale.

Family members include his wife, Janice Loggins Lewallen; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Chad Huff of Toccoa, Angie and Stanley Hopkins of Martin, and Renee and Tony Ledford of Toccoa; grandchildren, Austin Huff, Allie Huff, Cynthia Shirley, Quinton Shirley, Ashley Shirley, Abby Ledford, and Aiden Ledford; great-grandson, Braylon Cypher; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Sharon Lewallen of Toccoa; sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Frank Shockley of Canon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, J. B. Lewallen, Vance Lewallen, and Gordon Lewallen; and by his sisters, WortieLee Hill and Agnes Lewallen.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 6 pm – 8 pm Saturday, April 10, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Sunday, April 11, 2021 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Wayne Marcus officiating.

Burial will follow at Roselane Cemetery.

Quinton Shirley, Austin Huff, Stacey Lewallen, Nathan Lewallen, Dennis Hill, and Steve Ayers will serve as pallbearers.  Jonathan Hill and Aiden Ledford will serve as honorary pallbearers.


Due to the conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, social distancing will be observed.  Those attending the service are encouraged to wear a mask.
