Mr. Edward Glenn Chapman

Mr. Edward Glenn Chapman, age 82 of Woodlane Drive, Toccoa passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

A son of the late Ed and Carol Faulkner Chapman, he was born July 23, 1938 in Gastonia, North Carolina having lived in Habersham County and Stephens County the greater part of his life. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a Georgia State Trooper from 1964 to 1993, retiring as a Sgt. 1st Class Post Commander, Toccoa Post 7. He was a member of the Toccoa Masonic Lodge, #309 having served as Worshipful Master and a member of the First Baptist Church since 1967, where he taught Sunday School for the four year old class for over 30 years. He loved playing golf with his golf buddies as often as they could get a tee time. He was a great handyman of many talents, helping at The Power House for Kids, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army and Open Arms Clinic. He volunteered at the Toccoa Soup Kitchen and Toccoa Food Pantry for several years. He went on several mission trips with the First Baptist Church Mission Team to help build churches.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Brenda Ayers Chapman; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon C. Thomason and Gregg and Christy C. LeCroy and Larry; grandchildren, Tanner Thomason, Walker Thomason, Reed LeCroy, Chandler LeCroy, Harper LeCroy and Emerson LeCroy; sister, Yvonne Everton; brother, Dwight Chapman (Dede); sisters-in-law, Janet Callas, Betty Scoggins (John), Margaret Tench (Charles), Ann Cody and Dianne Craven; many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, December 9, 2020, 2 O’clock p.m. at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary with The Reverend David Ritcey officiating. The Georgia State Patrol will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will be escorted by the Georgia State Patrol from The Pointe Church to the First Baptist Chapel where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service time at 2 p.m. Due to the health and well-being of our community, social distancing must be observed.
