Mr. George Stephens DeFoor

Mr. George Stephens DeFoor, age 77 of Davis Road, Toccoa passed away at his residence on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 surrounded by his family.

A son of the late Alex and Jewell Elrod DeFoor, he was born October 13, 1946 in Stephens County, Georgia where he had lived all his life.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam.  He owned and operated George’s Auto Repair. He was always willing to lend a hand to those that needed help. He loved his grandkids and enjoyed working in his shop. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Tugalo Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Barbara Royals, Judy DeFoor, Peggy Whitlock and Joann Whitworth and by a brother, Harry DeFoor.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Anne Long DeFoor; son, Bryan Defoor (Cassie Jordan) of Toccoa; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and William Smith of Toccoa; grandchildren, Keri Norton, Denton Smith, Kolton DeFoor, Jaron DeFoor, Layla Smith, Caden Jordan and Cohen Jordan; great-grandchildren, Reed Norton and Mason Norton; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Pam DeFoor of Toccoa; sister and brother-in-law, Lavonne and Terry McConnell of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 4, 2024, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Harris Pressley and Mr. Rick Addison officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Kolton DeFoor, Jaron DeFoor, Stacy Whitworth, Rob DeFoor, Jody DeFoor, William Whitlock and Courtlan Whiten.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday from noon until the service time.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice for going above and beyond for George during the last four years of care.

Interment will follow in the Eastanollee Baptist Church Cemetery with The Reverend Curt Long officiating.
